The term Kokeshi refers to the beautiful traditional wooden dolls used in Japan, handmade for centuries by artisans. These woodcrafters made another kind of object, too: wooden dildos which were also called kokeshi, so that these days the word can refer to both the traditional Japanese dolls and (as a slang term) for a dildo or vibrator for a woman.
