This is a story of France, during the rule of Napoleon. Although the Revolution brought with it new laws and some semblance of representative government, there are some places that never change: the dark hole known as prison. Into that hell a boy called Guys is sent. The crime is murder, and the sentence, life without the possibility of parole.

However, Guys is innocent of this crime. He was living his life as he always did, running through the city and stealing to survive when he was caught by a policeman. Before he knew what was happening he was accused of a crime he knew nothing about, hauled before a dishonest judge and found guilty of the heinous crime. But just who was killed, and why?

In prison, Guys is made to endure a world of violence and betrayal as he fights desperately to survive. Inside that world of fear and loathing, he endures in his quest for justice for himself. He finds help in unlikely places -- from alcoholic lawyers and insane men in the prison with him. Eventually he begins to realize the scope of the diabolical plot he's fallen into, but even as he works to uncover the truth, he despairs of that which he has lost. And every day, he struggles for dignity and survival, while the powerful interests who put him here look on with smirking amusement.

Guys. A strong-willed youth accused of a crime he didn't commit, he hates to lose at anything. He's sentenced to life in prison with no hope of parole. Age 18.	Guildias. The special investigator responsible for putting Guys in prison, he has an extensive history of taking advantage of his position to cause misery for others. Age 25.
Durer. The Head Guard at the prison, he gets his main enjoyment in life from causing pain and suffering among his inmates. The youngest son of the Minister of Police, he has near-absolute power. Age 30.	Bollanet. The Minister of Police, he is the father of Durer. Age 50.
Lusca. A lawyer hired by Guys' family to discover the truth into the murder. They hired him because he came cheap, but he drinks constantly and has no motivation. In fact a capable lawyer, he lost his self-confidence many years ago. Age 29.	Evan. An inmate at the prison, originally a newspaper reporter. Full of youthful vigor, he detests all injustice. He is imprisoned on a false charge, the same as Guys. A good friend to Guys, who provides much-needed calm and advice. Age 25.
Vallewida. An inmate at the prison. A former soldier placed here for opposing the methods used by the Army against its own people, he's officially imprisoned for desertion, but he knows there's something more to his torment. Age 20	Jose. An inmate at the prison. A youth living on the street just like Guys, but he is more violent. He's imprisoned for drinking and beating up prostitutes. Age 18.
Insane Prisoner. An insane inmate imprisoned for life, he appears in the workship and mess hall occasionally. His hair is desheveled and he wears no proper clothes. His long years of being here have robbed him of his sanity. Age ???.	Io. An inmate in the prison, Io is a shy youth who lacks confidence. He's the target of much hazing by the other inmates. Age 18.

Kia WelBehenna. One of the two main characters in the game. An overly confident youth who is short-tempered and emotional, he's known for mouthing off to others, although he's very smart. He hates guys who try to act cute to get attention. He never falls for other guys, but tries to get them to fall for him instead.	Louise Hardwich. The alternate main character you can choose in the game. Always sure of himself, Louise is very good-looking, but sometimes his big mouth gets him into difficult situations.
