Peter says: There are currently 230,000 Japanese registered with the Friends System database, including 123,000 females. We've checked the company extensively and think this is an outstanding way for you to make some Japanese friends, whether it's to trade information about Japan, exchange language lessons or find someone for serious romance -- or we wouldn't have put the link on our site. This cross of fantasy, sci-fi and demons is something akin to cyber-Cthulhu storytelling with a very Japanese twist. Written by Makoto Izumi and illustrated by the wildly popular Masamune Shirow, it tells the tale of Sarah Nanamori, an exuberant young lady skilled in martial arts since childhood, her friend Ayase Minami, who is enamored with a handsome instructor at their private university, Shinryuji Mikihiko, and a man who claims to be her long lost father, Rabbi Lash.

Enter the evil. A man named Gregor, with his dark secret and frightening cult of demons called The Deep Ones, and his ever-present right-hand Slusha, a deadly woman with unknown skills and a penchant for showing up when it's least convenient. When Ayase is kidnapped, Sarah, spurning Rabbi's advice and his claim to be her father, must find a way to rescue her friend, and stop Gregor and his minions from taking over the world.

This is voluThe me 2, which includes 12 full-color pages of art and CG by Shirow Masamune, and 276 pages of glorious battle packed anime style fun! Contains adult nature material and graphics. Perfect for advanced learners of Japanese and Shirow fans. (The English title for this is often translated as Demon Hunter). A fantastic item for Ghost in the Shell collectors!

Whether you know it or not, you have already been exposed to much of Koji Morimoto's work, especially if you are an anime fan. His credits include Franken's Gears (from Robot Carnival), Akira, Magnetic Rose (from Memories), Extra (with Ken Ishii), Survivor (with Glay), Beyond (from The Animatrix) and more. An impressive record of films and anime shorts that has lead him to become one of the top artists in Japanese design, art, anime, manga and commerical ventures in Japan. This large, extra thick softcover illustration collection is a mind-bending look at the life's work of one of Japan's most influential artists. Page after page of full-color illustrations, rough sketches, character designs, scenes, sets and more, including photos of the man himself. His brainstorms include themes such as science fiction (sci-fi), cyberpunk, mecha, future cities, robotics, and much more. If you are a fan of Range Murata (Future Rhythm), Shirow Masamune (Ghost in the Shell), Jun Tsukasa (Tsukasa Bullet), Shou Tajima (Kill Bill), Katsuya Terada, or even Heavy Metal, Koji Morimoto should be on your list as well. Manga on the fringe of not just Japanese manga, but on the fringe of your imagination as well, pushing the concept of "what is manga?". Features a full length interview with Akira director and writer Katsuhiro Otomo in both Japanese and English! Over 260 pages. The entire staff of J-List recommend this really excellent artbook.
