(He was famous for being the samurai who wore Western boots.) This T-shirts puts a cool 'fro on Ryoma's head, and displays the slogan he embraced, "Wakon Yosai," translatable as "Japanese Spirit, Western Technology," which pretty much sums up the last 150 years of Japan.
