| Anyone who has ever seen Tokyo and has seen the wave upon wave of crowds might have a hard time imagining Tokyo being a continuously crowded city out of their heads. Even when the word "Tokyo" is heard, we think of impenetrable crowds, backed up traffic... it is unthinkable of a Tokyo that isn't filled with people, which makes this photobook by Masataka Nakano all the more startling. In these photos, we are presented with a Tokyo few people have seen--a Tokyo where the streets are deserted, where a single human being cannot be seen. Page after page we are treated to cityscapes where we feel we should see someone--from the classy shopping district of Ginza, to the bustling nightlife district of Roppongi to just outside Shinjuku Station, considered the busiest train station in the world and nary a soul to be seen. Instead we are treated to a Tokyo without people, and one can't help but feel an eerie loneliness when looking at this book. An incredible photobook that is not only a look at one of the most interesting cities in the world but also presented in a new way that few have seen. 10.5" x 8" Softcover, perfectbound, a great coffee table item!
