Many beginners make the mistake of creating designs where differences between characters is merely a small change in hair style, creating a comic where everyone looks the same and has no dynamic. Creating new characters requires examining all parts, including the shape of the face, body, stature, and this book takes a look at how you can make your characters come to life with their own uniqueness. Separate sections are given on the head and body, with hundreds of explained examples. There is also a very lengthy section on panel making, and how to use different kinds of panels to effectively tell your story and develop your characters. Finally, there are 7 pages of line drawings on Kent paper to allow you to practice the different character design techniques you have learned. An essential book for aspiring manga artists who want to learn more about how to make their art come to life.
